I've decided to move this journal to an honest-to-goodness blog, complete with easy-to-modify sidebars and better (for a knitting blog) commenting. I hope you'll keep reading! It's at http://stashknitrepeat.blogspot.com/.
Please let me know if you'd like me to create some kind of feed for it. (I'm sure blogger makes that easy, right?) |

I took a sort-of break from Bea this week to finish the pooling colors scarf. (This is from the Fall 2004 Interweave Knits, and I knit it up in the recommended Schaefer Anne yarn.)

( That is one long scarf! )
Of course, I haven't taken a complete hiatus from Bea. I've done both front pieces and about half of one sleeve of the cardigan. The soft baby isn't very stretchy, though, so I need to give my hands a day or two of break before I do much more on it.
A friend asked whether I'd be willing to knit a white brimless cap/hat for her 10-month-old. I think some kind of lacy pattern would be nice--this girl is *girly*. :) Any pattern suggestions? (She liked the strawberry hat I knit her this holiday season, but wants something lighter-colored and a little cooler.)
Also, I have this Artyarns Silk Rhapsody. It's gorgeous, lustrous, and worsted weight. I have 260 yards of it. Any suggestions? |

You know, I used to be one of those people without any stash at all. Yarn enough for my next project and that's it.

No progress pictures for you, because you know what? 12" of a scarf is really about the same as 4" of a scarf. Which is sort of sad, because it really is a beautiful scarf. The pooling is still working out very well, and it's a quick easy knit. Perfect for the hour or so I have after we put the babe into his crib and before we go to bed ourselves.
I decided not to do the sockapaloooza after all. The next couple of months are likely to be somewhat harried, for reasons I won't go into here, and while I am a fairly quick knitter I just wasn't sure they'd get done.
Knit-pal Marlena tagged me in a meme, which I will post in lieu of pictures. ( Tag, I'm it! )
I'm supposed to tag four people for this meme, but I've seen this on most of the blogs I read. So, if you're reading this and you'd like to be tagged, you're up! |

So... how crazy is it for me to want to sign up for sockapaloooza? Are any of you doing it?
The one thing that worries me is the detail requested in foot measurement. I have only knit socks to length, before. Is it really standard to knit to foot circumference, too? I'm confident in my skill, but don't want to obsess over every dimension.
Thoughts? |

I gotchyer FOs right here!
( Pictures behind cut. )
Of course, I won't have the patience to work on a scarf and a scarf alone. So the next "interesting" project to go on the needles will be Bea from Rowan's "Little Treasures", knit in the Rowan Soft Baby. I got Cloud a couple of months ago, before they came out with the new colors. Though honestly I think cream is the right choice for the recipient anyway.
Happy crafting! |

I now understand why people like to knit socks. If it's a simple pattern, they're blazingly fast to knit. I'm already done with the first "peaks and valleys" sock. The Bearfoot yarn is pretty nice to work with, and the color is to die for, but the resulting fabric is definitely scratchier than Lorna's Laces. I've decided to add another pair of knitted socks to my holiday gift list (*cough*), and I have some LL for that.
Now, to cast on for the other sock!
( What's that? You say you want pictures? ) |

| Finished Harvey |

What a lazy girl I've been! I knitted up the Harvey pieces so quickly that there was no time for an in-progress knitting shot, and then it takes me 2 weeks to seam and finish them. Oh, well. It's done now, although still too big for the little man. At the rate he's growing, it will be very cute on him for the holidays and definitely useful before winter is out.
I've put the few pictures of the sweater "in progress" up at my .mac site. Today, I grabbed a couple of pictures of Jacob in the sweater, even though it's too large and eats up his neck entirely.
( Of course, I've got no pictures of my current wip but I distract you with a cute baby! ) |

It's been ages since I posted. The pace of my knitting has definitely been sluggish since the end of November. In case anyone who reads this doesn't also read zogathon, this is because around the end of November I got pregnant. I had terrible morning sickness for the first trimester and got out of the knitting habit then. Then, we had a ton of work done on the house (lead abatement--avoid it if you can) and traveled for most of the month of May. I was due this past Monday and will be induced on Tuesday if the little guy hasn't shown up by then.
( The knitting I have managed to do... ) ( And the knitting I plan to do... )
Of course, I'm already excited about my next project after all this, but I've rambled enough for today. :) |

Socks are pretty fun so far. Of course, so far they're just a lacy tube. They're going more slowly than I expected, probably because I am still re-adjusting to tiny dpn (vs. the honkin' straights I've been using). I'm making the "Waving Lace" socks from the Spring '04 IK. In the magazine, they're shown in a solid color. I'm doing mine in the "Clay" mixed colorway from Lorna's Laces, and it's having interesting effects on the finished product. The k2togs and ssks aren't nearly as prominent, making the sock look *less* like diagonally-latticed rectangles and more like wide diagonal rib. With a spiraling stripe of turquoisy-brown running down the length of the cuff. :)
It looks really nice, actually, just not much like the picture in the magazine. Anyone have suggestions for which types of sock patterns work well with variegated colorways? (Also! I stopped by the LYS *again* last night to pick up the second set of sock yarn I needed Sunday, and forgot. And I found the most gorgeous Bearfoot sport-weight sock yarn in luscious browns, oranges, and rusts. They only had one hank, though, so I'll be looking for a toe-up pattern pretty soon. I'll post pics later, hopefully. With it getting dark so early these days, it can be hard to get good snapshots.) |

Well, I finished Katy and she's lovely! So soft, such a nice color. The only side-effect of using a smaller yarn is that the V-neck is pretty deep; if I'm going to wear this to work I'll need to wear a tank underneath. But that's fine with me. The only *downside* of the project was that the Cash Iroha was reasonably fragile, and broke twice while I was seaming.
( Pictures behind the cut as usual. )
I got distracted from Katy for a little while and knit up a scarf/stole for a friend in desperate need. Very simple lace pattern, knit in Rowan's kidsilk haze on US size 8 needles.
( I like it so much, I will need one for myself! ) |

I wound up finishing Lara on vacation in Las Vegas, and blocking it upon return. All in all, it wound up taking about 10 days to knit. Super fast, and the result is stunning. I'll say it again, this yarn is scrumptious. The drape, the sheen, the swing swing swing... unbelievable. (I've only worn it all day twice, bigballofyarn, but I haven't noticed any stretching yet.)
( You know you're interested in pictures of Lara, and my current project, and more various knitting updates... ) |

Lara is coming along swimmingly. After casting on the many stitches for the body of the sweater, I glanced at the finished measurements and noted that it would perhaps cover the top of my navel. :) So I ripped the increases back, and increased again as if I were knitting the medium size.
